Owen Quinn: Twin Towers BASE #1

April 17, 2008

On July 22, 1975 Owen Quinn made history publicizing the plight of the unemployed.

Thanks to the wonder of the Internet, Rick McGonigal, a jumper from Mays Landing, NJ who once jumped at my DZ in Woodbine, NJ sent some photos of us at the DZ both in the plane and after a jump.

In the batch of photos  was this one of Owen Quinn BASE jumping from the South Tower of the World Trade Center.

In 1975, Mike Sergio, took this photo of Owen Quinn making the first jump from the top of unfinished South Tower of World Trade Center.

Wikipedia wrote the following about Quinn's jump:

"In 1975, Owen J. Quinn, a jobless man, parachuted from the south tower of the World Trade Center to publicize the plight of the unemployed."
